Owen is learning more words every day, and can now pick out an 'O' from a page of text and point to himself :D

14 Months 1 Week
Owen is getting more and more confident moving around.
He can now climb up an entire flight of stairs!

14 Months

14 Months
Owen has grown up so much! He is a real toddler now. He can understand heaps of what we say to him and is learning more every day. He has a lot of words now, if they count as words his first words were 'woof woof' and 'meow', and 'dropped' followed soon after. He can now say quite a few more, and understands things like "Shall we put the blocks in the box?" or "Can you go and give that to grandma?" even if grandma is at the other end of the house! He is very excited about learning to use cutlery and copying all the things he sees us do around the house. In this picture you can see him mimicking me blowing bubbles for him. He also loves brooms and sweeping and the vacuum cleaner and brushing his teeth and 'weeding' the garden. Let's hope these interests continue!

Owen with his very first hockey jersey, a gift all the way from England (thanks Pelbee!)
Well, it has been a while. You miss one week and you just lose the momentum :S  I've still been taking the photos, so I will try to backfill.

37 Weeks

37 Weeks
Owen adores spending time in the garden, unfortunately
now it is getting colder time outside is going to be limited.
Owen understands when I say and do the baby sign for milk now
which is pretty cool; he is starting to eat more solid food now too

Wednesday 9 May 2012

36 Weeks

36 Weeks
Owen is absolutely obsessed with standing up.  He constantly wants to pull himself up to standing holding my hands - he hasn't yet figured out you can use inanimate objects as leverage as well though. The other exciting things he has learned are how to turn pages in his books by himself (so long as I hold them up for him to get a grip on), how to kick a ball and he seems to understand his first baby sign for 'milk'.

35 Weeks

35 Weeks (8 months)
Owen with his grandpa. Owen has pretty much mastered his pincer grip
(thumb and first finger) which means his manual dexterity is much improved.
He is trying to talk a lot more and is making sounds with the right intonation
(if not the actual sound)) for 'hello'. He is definitely working hard at learning to crawl.

Bonus picture: Owen's first trip to the zoo!

Owen at his first wedding. Owen had his first real illness this week, which wasn't
much fun for anyone concerned - he managed to infect the whole family!

Owen is obsessed with pulling himself up to a standing position using whoever is handy as a lever.

31 Weeks

31 Weeks
Owen is still not very interested in rolling over, although he has done it.
He is great at sitting up by himself though and is getting more and more interested in standing up.

30 Weeks

30 Weeks
Owen loves going to the swimming pool!

Saturday 17 March 2012

29 Weeks

29 Weeks
Out for a picnic on the beach with grandpa.
Owen's fine motor control/dexterity with his hands has come on incredibly,
even just in the last couple of weeks. He can really explore things with his hands now.
He can also take a few sips out of a glass of water, and is 'talking' loads more.
We have also seen the first hint that crawling is on its way.

28 Weeks

28 Weeks
Owen loves his bouncer, and his skill at using it just keeps improving.
Owen learned to wave this week (which at this stage consists of vigorously
waving his arm up and down from the shoulder!), and his ability to pick
things up keeps improving. He just keeps changing so fast!

Monday 5 March 2012

27 Weeks

27 Weeks
Here is Owen sleeping through the lovely views available from the car on our trip.
Owen's coordination is developing all the time! He can reach out and rake toys
towards himself, will reach out for people if he wants them, and can sit and play
with his toys for whole minutes at a time! :)

While waiting for Ian's visa to come through we decided to go on a road trip.
Here Owen is enjoying dabbling his feet in the Manganui-o-te-au river

24 Weeks
Owen seems to have come along in leaps and bounds in the last few weeks!
He can now sit up by himself really well and has been experimenting with solid food
(to date: pita bread, broccoli, red pepper (not really a fan), potato and spinach leaves)
